Why I Started Overcrank
Joe Barbagallo is a filmmaker. “For years, the hardest part wasn’t making the movies it was financing them. Every attempt to raise capital felt like a maze of hidden fees, confusing terms, and lenders who seemed indifferent to whether the project survived, so long as they got paid. He was taken advantage of more than once, lost personal money, and watched films he poured himself into lose momentum because the financing wasn’t built in the filmmaker’s best interest.”

Robert E. Rosenbaum, MD, FAANS, FACS
Robert E. Rosenbaum, MD, FAANS, FACS is the Co-founder of OverCrank Partners and a board-certified neurosurgeon whose career spans frontline military medicine, complex spine surgery, university governance, and venture building. He applies surgical-grade risk management—checklists, redundancy, and clear decision gates—to tax-credit lending and structured film finance in the $2–5M budget band. Dr. Rosenbaum serves on the Board of Directors of Parker University (2017–present) and is a Fellow of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons. His speaking and publication record reflects a career built on rigor, teamwork, and outcome orientation. At OverCrank, he translates that rigor into conservative underwriting anchored by state incentives, pre-sales validation, and executable distribution plans.
